The last Family Reading Night of the year is fast approaching:

Date:  Tuesday, April 17th

Time: 6:30 (readers please arrive by 6:25)

Location:  Ms. Mayer's room

If you have not been to this event before, typically 40-50 students and their parents come to the library and listen to Mr. Hitomi, parents, teachers, and staff read stories aloud.  Some of the younger students even show up ready for bedtime sporting PJs with their pillows and stuffed animals.

We are looking for 6-7 reader volunteers.  This quarter's theme is Friendship.  Please let Michael Cabot know if you can help out.

We will also be open from 7:30am - 8:30am Thursday morning April 19th for “Dads and Doughnuts” - please join us for coffee and doughnuts while you shop with your child!

We would also encourage parents to purchase a book for their child’s classroom.  You can find teacher “wish lists” at the Book Fair.

We will be accepting donations of your gently used books for our sister school, Lake Elementary.

A few more volunteer slots are open at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0D4DABA92DA5FC1-spring.  Please contact Kathy Finley at K2finley@yahoo.com or Carrie Sardelich at cjsardelich@comcast.net for more information.

Parent Education Speaker-Please join us on April 26th from 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m in the library for a Parent Education talk on “Raising Resilient Kids: Cultivating mindfulness & emotional intelligence in family life” presented by George Papageorge.  George Papageorge is a licensed marriage & family therapist who has been working with couples, families and young people for the past 30 years. With a private practice in Pleasanton, his work targets empathy based relationships, parenting with emotional intelligence, family systems therapy and addiction recovery. He is also a highly sought out seminar speaker in a variety of areas of family life and personal growth. With the growing challenges facing our children, George is regularly asked to conduct parent education workshops to inform and empower parents in several school districts throughout the Bay Area.

HARVEST OF THE MONTH:  Harvest of the Month Cookbook: Your Harvest of the Month Chairs are looking for a volunteer to collect and compile recipes from this year’s Harvest of the Month taste tastings in the various classes. The cookbook could be compiled in DropBox or Shutterfly, for example. If interested, contact Kristi Walsh atkristifoxwalsh@gmail.com.

YEARBOOK – PTA is in desperate need of a Yearbook Chair or Co-Chairs.  It is imperative someone steps up this year as the Chair so they can mirror the current chairs who are graduating the following year.  We hope you would consider stepping up to keep this Alamo School tradition going!   Alamo's future could be in jeopardy of not having a yearbook memory for your children.  We can't remember far enough back to know when Alamo School has not had a Yearbook. Please reach out to lahillebrandt@aol.com or dc.campos@comcast.net ASAP.
